News Update

Greetings, UPLL Nation!

Although the calendar still says January, we're just a short time away from the beginning of the 2020 Spring season at Upper Providence Little League! The wheels are already well in motion on plans for the upcoming season and we'd like to take a short minute of your time to update you on some key dates and items as we prepare for another great year of baseball and softball at UPLL!

  • Registration will be open on the UPLL website through Saturday, February 29th. Yes, 2020 is a leap year, so one extra day of online registration this year! After this date, the registration will close so we can set divisional rosters for player evaluations and team selection, as well as finalize our uniform order. If you intend for child to participate at UPLL this season, please get registered at https://www.up-littleleague.org as soon as you can!
  • Player Evaluations will once again be hosted by the Ursinus College Baseball program on Sunday, March 1st. These evaluations are mandatory for players in the Baseball Midgets, Minors, and Intermediate Divisions! As in prior years, the evaluations we will be held indoors at the Floy Lewes Bakes Fieldhouse on the Ursinus campus. We'll be sending more information about evaluations as the date approaches, including what equipment to bring and what time to arrive. But for the moment, please mark this date on your calendar if your child is registered in these divisions!
  • As you get your child ready for the upcoming season, several local organizations are holdingaffordable instructive camps and clinics to shake off the winter rust and get back into the swing of things!
    • Ursinus Baseball is offering several clinic dates with specific sessions focused on hitting, fielding, pitching, throwing. The camp schedule, costs, and registration can be found on the Ursinus Baseball Camps website.
    • The Spring-Ford High School Baseball Team is running a one-day Youth Baseball Clinic for players aged 8 through 9th grade on Saturday, February 23rd from 9am through 2pm. More information can be found on the clinic flyer and registration can be completed by forwarding the completed flyer to Spring-Ford HS Head Coach Rick Harrison.
    • We're also in communication with a local organization offering softball specific clinics and we should be able to forward more information about this program in the coming weeks!
  • Also, your child might need some new gear and swag for the 2020 season. Perhaps last year's glove is too small? We're proud to once again be partnering with UPLL sponsor Dick's Sporting Goods to offer UPLL Discount Weekend at Dick's in Collegeville! Present this coupon at Dick's location in Collegeville on Saturday, March 7th or Sunday, March 8th to receive a 20% discount on any item throughout the store!
  • On February 11th, Phillies pitchers and catchers will report to Clearwater to begin Spring Training for the 2020 season! We're so excited about the upcoming season that we're declaring Tuesday, February 11th as WEAR YOUR "UP" GEAR TO SCHOOL DAY! Players are encouraged to wake up that morning and put on all the Upper Providence Little League items they can find - hat, jersey, shirt, socks, etc! We're talking full uniform, without the cleats! We'll be awarding prizes to the the top three Best Dressed players. Entry pictures can be submitted on a special post on our Facebook page and the winners will be announced on Saturday, February 15th. So dust off that uniform and get those pants white, and help us show all of your friends and teachers how excited we are for the coming baseball and softball season at Upper Providence Little League!
    • Top Three Best Dressed will receive their choice of any of the following prizes:
      • Four $5 Upper Providence Little League Snack Stand Discount Cards
      • One Upper Providence Little League "Flexfit" Fitted Cap
      • One Upper Providence Little League magnetic car decal (Custom made by UPLL President Nick Buchanan)
  • If you have indicated yourself as a volunteer Team Manager or Assistant Coach during registration, you will begin receiving information about required Safety Clearances and Background Checks in the coming weeksPlease complete the required online background check and submit clearance documentation as soon as possible, as compliance with clearances is mandatory! Managers and Coaches will also be required to complete online First Aid Training. An informational email will be sent by our Safety Officer shortly.
  • Our February General Membership Meeting will be held on February, 5th at 8:00pm at Black Rock Firehouse. The UPLL monthly General Membership Meetings are open to all parents, volunteers, and coaches to stay informed of planning for the season and all activities at UPLL. If you have interest in assisting in the operation of our 100%-volunteer run Little League organization, we invite you to attend this meeting!
